new to XForms

Mallikarjun Javali
Hi,
Is there any beginners guide to XForms?
Also I would like to see a complete sample application developed using XForms.
Thanks In advance.

XForms Essentials is a good starting point (http://xformsinstitute.com/essentials/browse/book.php). Also the OPS XForms reference might be useful (http://www.orbeon.com/ops/doc/reference-xforms-ng).

You can't write a complete application using just XForms, since it only describes forms :) There are plenty of samples on the OPS site though (http://www.orbeon.com/ops/).

Mallik,

Kurt Cagle has been writing a series of articles about XForms (albeit
based on Firefox, most of it should be applicable to OPS):

http://www.oreillynet.com/xml/blog/2006/03/why_xforms_matter_revisited.html
http://www.oreillynet.com/xml/blog/2006/03/understanding_xforms_the_model.html
http://www.oreillynet.com/xml/blog/2006/06/understanding_xforms_component.html
http://www.oreillynet.com/xml/blog/2006/07/understanding_xforms_customiza.html
http://www.oreillynet.com/xml/blog/2006/08/understanding_xforms_events_an.html

Our best example so far is the DMV Forms example that ships with the
latest OPS nightly builds:

   http://forge.objectweb.org/nightlybuilds/ops/

We have plans to further improve it for the next stable version of OPS,
in particular to make it use the eXist REST API (which will lead to much
simpler code). The older version of the example, close from what you
find in OPS 3.0.1, is available online:

   http://www.orbeon.com/ops/forms

Speaking of this topic, it would be great to improve the Wikipedia entry
about XForms, which currently I find sub-par. There is a lot more that
could be said about XForms, from the basics to typical XForms pattern,
etc. If anybody on the list has spare time, go and edit away ;-)

   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xforms

I hope this helps,

-Erik
