eXist upgrade (optional jar?)

Mike Leary

Hi,

I want to upgrade eXist to the latest, greatest eXist-1.1.1-newcore
version.  OXF has two jars:

exist-optional-20060316.jar
exist-20060316.jar

Can I just drop in the new jar and remove the old one?  Remove both old
ones?

What's in the optional jar?  Anything that might conflict/break/secretly
corrupt data if mixed with a new base jar?

thanks!
Mike

Hello,

I don't know if it may help, but I installed the newcore separately and I access it from orbeon using

<datasource>
    <driver-class-name>org.exist.xmldb.DatabaseImpl</driver-class-name>
    <uri>xmldb:exist://localhost:9999/exist/xmlrpc</uri>
    <username>totor</username>
    <password></password>
</datasource>

Kind regards

Martin

Mike,
        I've done this, it works fine just replacing them. Your database
will probably be locked (mine was) so back it up, delete all the files in
exist-data directory and then restore it.

If you have any problems, try updating some of the other jars that come with
exist (xeceres and xmldb etc.)

Hope this helps
