Switching to XForms NG - How?

Spenser Kao

Hi,

Very often, gurus on this list keep suggesting users who are experiencing error such as [1] or the one about <xforms:submit>’s mandatory attribute submission should switch from old XForms Classic engine to NG.

I am really puzzled by that saying for days. What does that really mean? If my working ops has already been upgraded to 3.5 M1, does it imply that it is automatically a XForms NG engine? Or should I do some explicit declarations at application level or at the system (ops) level?

Regards,

Spenser

Spenser,
Quite simply don't specify @xforms on any of your page-flow entries and place the <xforms:model> in the <xhtml:head> of your pages and you will be using the xforms NG engine

    Hope this helps

First please have a look at these FAQ entries:

What are the XForms Classic and XForms NG engnes?
   http://www.orbeon.com/ops/doc/home-faq#xforms-classic-ng

How do I know which XForms engine I am using?
   http://www.orbeon.com/ops/doc/home-faq#xforms-classic-or-ng

Should I keep using the XForms Classic engine?
   http://www.orbeon.com/ops/doc/home-faq#xforms-classic-deprecation

Now you are asking a good question: exactly *how* do you migrate from
one to the other! So I wrote a FAQ entry and a short migration guide:

How do I migrate from XForms Classic to XForms NG?
   http://www.orbeon.com/ops/doc/home-faq#xforms-classic-migration

Migrating from XForms Classic to XForms NG

http://www.orbeon.com/ops/doc/reference-xforms-ng#xforms-classic-migration

This is better than nothing but I am sure that there is more to be
said and we welcome your experiences on migration!
