FCKeditor 2.5.1 + Orbeon 3.6

Hi,

If you try as me to update your FCKEditor, please don't or you will loose a lot of time :)!

Orbeon 3.6 comes with FCKEditor 2.3.1. I tried to put to most recent version of FCKEditor (2.5.1) but it will not work :(! I will see almost all the controls (except the three last ones ('FontFormat','FontName','FontSize')). But none will work and I cannot write.

So after many many many tests, I have concluded that the most recent version of FCKEditor that will work with Orbeon 3.6 is version 2.4.3. This is already a major update compared to the standard version (2.3.1), but 2.5.1 has many interesting features and new compatibility (Safari & Opera).

Do you plan to find out why 2.5 doesn't work? Any hints maybe on what I could do to make it work ?

We are planning to switch to the rich text editor in YUI, which also
supports Safari and Opera. As far as upgrading the FCKeditor, the
first 3 points in the list below don't apply here. So we are in one of
those cases where this will happen in the near future only if either
someone does the work and contributes it back to the project, or
someone sponsors this work.

In my application, i've got the newest version of fckeditor (2.5.1) with
OF 3.6.0 working - but i have to check what changes i've applied,
because i'm using fckeditor with a custom plugin. If you're interested,
i could send you my fckconfig.js - this is the only file i've modified IIRC.
