xxforms:menu

bsteuhl
I use xxforms:menu in one of our projects and on the client site during testing the menu does not render as it should.  All the words for the menu items are one long word and not functional.  The xxforms:tree renders perfectly with no problem in the same form.

Any suggestions as to what may be causing this and a resolution besides removing the xxfroms:menu/select1 and turning the navigation into a widget or triggers as buttons or links?

Thank you.

Do you mean the menu works in other cases? Does this one work for you:

http://www.orbeon.com/orbeon/xforms-sandbox/sample/menu

It could be that a JavaScript file is missing, but then the question
would be why.

The menu works on the server and on other machines, but then when the end users pull up the form on their end, the menu bar (which does not have any hiearchy - just flat - displays as one long word (no spacing between the labels) and does not function.  Why would it not display - is the javascript file not loading fast enough?

Thanks for the reply and attempting to trouble shoot with me.

Brian,

I don't think speed of loading should impact this. Do you use combined resources (which is the default), i.e. do you get a single large xforms-*.js file in your browser? If so, the JavaScript for the menu should be in that file anyway, and if that file doesn't load nothing should work.

Re: Re: xxforms:menu

bsteuhl
Erik,

I just stumbled across the problem.  The issue was only occurring in IE7 version 7.0.5730.13.  I stumbked acros IETester which allows you to open web pages in one UI for IE5.5, IE6, IE7 and IE8.  I opened up form in IE6 - no problems.  Opened up form in IE7 - problems with menu and other dialog boxes - message:object required whic is javascript error.

So, then I opened in IE8 (which on our development server was giving me no issues), but in IETester I received an error about fr:datatable - specifically the datatable.js.  So, I went in to our xForm and removed fr:datatable and sortable attributes and replaced back with html table.  Issues went away and everything worked in IE7.

If you need more information from me let me know.  Thanks.

Ah, so fr:datatable was the cause. Hopefully we will hit this one
again in the future so we can fix it!
