section templates and actions

apgoar
I am working on a whole slew of new forms where the "section template" support in Orbeon is really handy to have. However, in that section template I need to have some list boxes that are dynamically populated through a web service call (ie uses Actions and Services).

The problem is I can create the "library" form that has all the section templates I need. I can add actions to that form, and they work fine when I test the form. But when then create another form, and import a section template, all the actions/services that were setup in that template are completely lost.

Questions:
    - Should this work, or is this not supported right now.
    - If it should work, is there anything special at all you need to do
to get actions that are setup in a "library' form, to carry across to
forms that use the section template from the library?
    - If this is not currently implemented, is there anything I can do to
formally request this feature in a future release of the product.

We are using Orbeon v3.8 PE (yes we gladly payed for the profession version). You guys made a great product, you deserve to actually get payed for it.

Love your tool.

Thanks,

Andy

Andy,

This was requested in the past, and makes perfect sense, but is currently not implemented.

You can certainly request the feature, although there is no guarantee as to the schedule.

I entered an RFE for this:

See also our list of possible future feature on the wiki:

In the meanwhile, you could also create / package your own XBL components yourself. Using these components within templates should then work.

We definitely appreciate your support!
