I wanted to let you know that I sponsored enhancement of the
pdf-processor and the change is now done. The main enhancements are that external fonts can be specified and multi-page documents can be created if an XML config file is submitted that contains multiple record elements. There are other new features as well and I intend to document them. The new code is not "drop-in", but it should be functionally backward compatible. Erik, if you are interested I can send you the new source code. Alex. -- You receive this message as a subscriber of the [hidden email] mailing list. Does the pdf-processor at version 3.5 have the ability to pick up external fonts? If so, how do you specify these external fonts?

I don't think it has this capability, at least we do not do anything
special to load external fonts. -Erik On Mar 31, 2008, at 8:05 PM, Edpriwer wrote: > > Does the pdf-processor at version 3.5 have the ability to pick up > external > fonts? Erik, once upon a time I sent you an adapted version of the PDF
processor that did have ability to load external fonts (besides other things, like ability to create multi-page files...). I don't think you used that code though and was thinking at that time that the "other" code you used when you released 3.5 (I think) was better than the one I sent you. A. Alex,
It seems that you sent this code back in 2006. Wow. The code to oxf:pdf-template has changed since then. In fact, we committed some improvements yesterday. But I think that some of the features you implemented have not made it yet. Would you happen to have the time to check what's missing in your version vs. the latest version (to get from http://forge.objectweb.org/nightlybuilds/ops/ops/ since our CVS sync is still broken)? I attach the source you sent back then for reference. -Erik On Apr 2, 2008, at 12:32 PM, Alexander Zatko wrote: > Erik, once upon a time I sent you an adapted version of the PDF > processor that did have ability to load external fonts (besides > other things, like ability to create multi-page files...). I found a quick solution for this problem yesterday...
We're using Orbeon v3.5 which uses an older version of FOP to generate PDFs (fop 0.25 vs fop 0.93 I think). I checked out the orbeon source code and updated the XSLFOSerializer to include: File userConfigFile = new File("userconfig.xml"); new Options(userConfigFile); // this sets up a static config class This tells FOP the location of a configuration file where external fonts are specified (the code will be slightly different for fop 0.93). I am not a java programmer - a friend of mine did the mod at that
time. So given that there hasn't been that much interest in the additional functionality my version has, I do not see much sense to invest time into the comparison (unless Peter is monitoring this list and wants to take a look at it himself). In FOP 0.95 don't need the XML font metrics files anymore: http://xmlgraphics.apache.org/fop/0.95/fonts.html#custom
Today used version 0.93. When 0.95 will be integrated in Oberon?

We have no plans for doing this in the short term, but you could try the upgrade yourself. The first step would be to replace the jars. If there were changes to the API, maybe the code for the processor needs to be changed as well. If you get a chance to try this, please let us know. We have a patch for 0.94:
http://forge.objectweb.org/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=310713&group_id=168&atid=350207 Hopefully 1) we can integrate this soon and 2) 0.95 is not very different. But 0.94 may be ok if I read that link well. -Erik On Aug 19, 2008, at 2:32 AM, ????? wrote: > > In FOP 0.95 don't need the XML font metrics files anymore: > http://xmlgraphics.apache.org/fop/0.95/fonts.html#custom > > Today used version 0.93. Yes, 0.94 may be ok.
I try use fop-0.95 standalone, but the new feature of "auto-registration of fonts " dont help me (fop cant found fonts, which i need). :( So we return to problem supporting config file of FOP by Orbeon (about this roblem spoke Edpriwer): ----------<CUT START>--------------------------------- I found a quick solution for this problem yesterday... We're using Orbeon v3.5 which uses an older version of FOP to generate PDFs (fop 0.25 vs fop 0.93 I think). Hi again,
found that old post and would be interessted, if there have been news on this? In the docs it says that Orbeon 3.7. is still using fop 0.20.5 but in the libs there is fop 0.93 i think, right? OK, what i have to do is, confert xml data out of the exist-db into a pdf-file. I guess i have to use xsl:fo stylesheets and the XSLFOserializer, right? Is there any simple example how to do this? And the next point is, that i also need to use external fonts, cause we're using special characters out of utf-8 and for that some special fonts, that can display those character. So, if there is any doc, how i can do this, any help is appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance, regards, Marcus Erik Bruchez schrieb: > Ok no problem.
