oxf:/ops/xforms/xforms-server.xpl error on form submit

Someone else posted seeing an error like this a few days ago, but under different circumstances.

I just updated from 3.7.1 to 3.8, and am seeing an error that I did not see at all under 2.7.1.
- I have Orbeon configured to branch off to another URL after a successfull form submit, using
the oxf.fr.detail.submit.go.uri-xpath.*.* property.
- The submit seems to work fine, but when I hit "go", rather than branching to the
new URL, I get an error (screenshot attached).

Attached is a screen shot of the error, and my current properties-local.xml file. Briefly, the error is:

Resource URL: oxf:/ops/xforms/xforms-server.xpl
Line: 55
Column: 65
Description: reading processor output
name → response
id → xforms-response
XML Element: <p:output name="response" id="xforms-response"/>

The other aspect of my application is that I'm using a custom written persistence layer, that sends back status on save (Orbeon is configured to expect the response via oxf.fr.detail.submit.content-from-persistence.*.* set to true). The status reply comes back and is displayed just fine. It's only after I hit the "go" button that the error occurs. I don't know if has anything at all to do with the error I'm getting, but I thought I would mention it. As I mentioned, all of this worked fine under 2.7.1.

(If it makes any difference, I'm running Orbeon Forms 3.8.0 PE release candidate 1, with a temporary license (we are evaluating 3.8.0 now, and will seriously consider a full license as soon as 3.8 is released).

As I was just mentioning in another thread, we would need some way to
reproduce this, as we are not aware of this problem. It would be great
if you could create a test case that we can run here to reproduce this
problem.
