How does one export the Form application that is created locally on
my machine into a usable web-form application on an external website host? Watching the mailing list here suggests a pretty advanced user-base here, so this probably comes across rather simplistic. I am creating a web-form for Woodlot Licensees to aid in electronic submissions to the Ministry of Forests British Columbia. All the work I am doing is pro bono in the hopes of saving Woodlot Licensees hours of grief and Forestry consultants gouging. Thank you for any guidance. Are you inquiring about the deployment of an Orbeon Forms application? Orbeon Forms runs on Tomcat (or any Java application server / servlet container). So all you need it to have a server, and to install Java, Tomcat, and Orbeon Forms with your application. Let me know if I misunderstood your comment. Yes or ... perhaps, or ??
I am sure that I am quite a ways out of my league here, but it has never stopped me before. I suppose what I believe you are saying is that I must Serve my Orbeon Form App from my own Tomcat/Java servlet, on my own computer/server. Or is there a way to package everything to run from an external domain? If there is not, I will still develop my Orbeon Form App, and try to somehow find sponsorship to host these apps. You see GIS is my mainstay, and the Orbeon Form App I am creating is simply a way to transmit GIS information to our Government Servers. I am looking for a simple solution for small forest tenure holders (Woodlots) to go to a website, enter their data into an Orbeon Form, add GML spatial information to the form, and save the resulting XML file to their desktop, where they then can submit it to the Government FTA (Forest Tenure Application) online. I am just learning how to read XML files and .XSD files, and XHTML. Thank you. Thank you for your offer, Hank.
I'll consider it in the future, thank you. The silence on the list suggests there is no "simple" way to package an Xforms application for external hosting. .... Mars,
I believe that most users so far have deployed Orbeon Forms on their own servers, which tells us that most users deploy within an intranet. It would sure be great to have more feedback on hosting "out there" on the internet. In theory, any provider allowing for Tomcat hosting would do, given that you meet memory and CPU requirements. -Erik Aurora Geomatics wrote: > Thank you for your offer, Hank. > > I'll consider it in the future, thank you. > > The silence on the list suggests there is no "simple" way to package > an Xforms application for external hosting. > > .... > > Mars > > > On 4-Oct-07, at 11:18 AM, Hank Ratzesberger wrote: > >> Mars, >> >> Hi, my name is Hank Ratzesberger and I am on the >> Orbeon list.
