open selection and minimal appearance?

Are there plans to support open selection for combo boxes (i.e. <select1 appearance="minimal" selection="open">). Currently, I get an error: "Open selection currently only supports the xxforms:autocomplete appearance".

However, the autocomplete is not appropriate for my case, users want to see the list and get the typical combo box behaviour. I am using 3.6.0.200803121728.

No immediate plans I think. But it would be nice.
