I'm using Orbeon Forms 3.8 PE trial Version and it seems to be very slow.

Is it normal? Is it due to trial version?

No, it is not normal, and it is not due to you using an evaluation
version. In fact I was running performance tests for a client on a
fairly large form (in the order of 500 fields), and was getting
average response times around 250 ms with 1000 concurrent users
hitting my laptop. Specifically, what did you find to be slow?
