java based workflow engine to use with Orbeon

James Liang
Hi guys,

I am in the process of researching Orbeon Forms for use in our
company's workflow system.  For us, filling out forms is a part of a
larger workflow process.  I would imagine this is a common theme.

Which open source Java based workflow engine do folks recommend using
with Orbeon Form?  Do folks at Orbeon have any preferences?

I am just beginning to learn about the xforms standard and the Orbeon
Forms.  So far, I really liked both a lot.

Thanks,
James

James,

At Orbeon we don't really have a particular recommendation at this
time. I wish we had one! And if anybody has experience to share, we
would definitely welcome that.

Unfortunately I cannot offer a recommendation at this time, but workflow is important to us as well.
We use Orbeon for rendering XForms within JSR-286 portlets that are component parts of a larger workflow.
We haven't got architecting the workflow management yet, but if we discover an off the shelf workflow solution then I will ensure we share it on this mailing list.

Our top priority is finding a solution to the issue of Orbeon XForms resetting whenever you interact with other portlets on the portal page.

Hi,

didn't Intalio use OF in their BPM a few years
ago?  I don't think that is still the case, but
they may have some thoughts on integrating things.

Cheers,
Hank

They did integrate Orbeon (not sure if they still do either
actually!), although it was more of a case of Orbeon-within-Intalio
than Orbeon-using-Intalio.
