fr-pdf-service-submission 404

Aaron Spike
I received the following error this morning and I saw few other posts online with a similar error but no solutions:

"xf:submission for submission id: fr-pdf-service-submission, error code received when submitting instance: 404"

I caused the error by setting "oxf.fr.css.custom.uri" and "oxf.fr.default-logo.uri" when the assets were not available on the filesystem. PDF generation must use these assets but evidently fails silently when they are unavailable.

Hi Aaron,

Good to know. And I imagine that you would suggest that error reporting should be better in this case?

I suppose there are situations where someone might want some component to be completely silent. But I find it frustrating when things fail silently by default (like the postgresql driver). There seem to be a few places in Orbeon where errors happen a few layers down and a more general error message gets propagated rather than the specific cause. But I don't know how or if it could be improved.
