forms builder

Frank
Hi,
I thought I would give the form builder app a bit of a try, so i downloaded the nightly build.
form builder comes up with an empty list of forms. Sorry if this is a dumb question, but
how do i create a new form?

web site says:

simply go to: <a href="http://[host:port]/%5Bcontext%5D/fr/orbeon/builder">http://[host:port]/[context]/fr/orbeon/builder. From there, say “New Form”.

but say 'New Form' where?

Cheers,
Franco

Franco,

The New button might have disappeared by mistake in one of yesterday's
builds. You will have to try again with a new build! The New button
will be at the bottom.

Hi Doug,
Thanks for the tips. They highlight the problem I am having -
I did the first 3 steps, but when the form builder main page opens -
there is NO NEW button.

I will try to download another nightly build

Thanks again,
Franco

JSF and Orbeon Examples

Jacob Hoeflaken-2
Hello All,

We're using a framework which creates a JSF application. I've read that it is possible to have both JSF and Orbeon XForms but that it is not wise to mix them in one page. My questions are:
  • Are there any good examples of mixing JSF and Orbeon XForms in a web application and where can I find them? With mixing I mean first page is in JSF, next page an Orbeon XForm followed by a JSF page for example.
  • Is it possible to mix the two and if so, are their any examples/starting-points I can use?

I know support for JSF has been dropped, but I'm interested if someone else is still on to it.

Kind regards,

Jacob Hoeflaken.

Hi Doug,
Thanks again for the tips,  problem is with the nightly build I used
(version dev-3.7.1.200905072350) - I was under the impression that
the form builder was only
delivered as part of the nightly builds. Screen shot attached to
prove? I am not blind!)
I went back and downloaded the 3.7 beta and now I have buttons at the
bottom of the form - yahoo!

Thanks again,
Fraanco

We don't have examples that come out of the box with Orbeon Forms, and show a JSF / XForms integration. But I don't think you should have any major problem as you're not trying to mix JSF and XForms on the same page. The only question that could arise and that I can think of would be related to how parameters can be passed from a JSF page to an XForms page, and vice versa. If request parameters are good enough in your case, then you have a simple solution - you can access them with xxforms:get-request-parameter() in XForms.

My guess is that this was a temporary problem with a specific build. If you haven't defined any form yet, you should see something along those lines: http://screencast.com/t/aWYythizW. I'd really recommend you use a recent nightly build, because Form Builder has been drastically improved over the last few months. If the problem persists with other nightly builds, please let us know.
