directory scanner and paths to shares

Alexander Žaťko
I have my app deployed on Windows. The directory scanner works fine
when I am accessing local volumes on the server, but when I specify
value of the <base-directory> tag that points to a directory on a
shared volume mounted on the server, the directory scanner complains:

"base directory element does not point to an existing directory:
X:/dir1/dir2/dir3"

Interesting thing is that the base-directory tag value is
X:\dir1\dir2\dir3 (Windows backward slashes used as delimiters).

Any ideas how to accomplish what I am after or explain the OPS error
message?

Thanks

A.

Can you easily send us the full stack trace (or say the top 20 lines)?

I was able to reproduce the issue and added a bug to tracker:

Re: directory scanner and paths to shares

Alexander Žaťko
Alex,

I am still getting the same error. I replaced only the ops.jar in the
lib directory of my OPS installation (from yesterday when I downloaded
and installed the unstable build that contains the new delete processor
Erik created). Do I need to deploy the complete war from today?

The log is attached.

Replacing the ops.jar should be enough. If you have the examples
running, can you go to the XPL sandbox, paste the snipped below in the
XPL text area, and let us know if this works for you?

If it doesn't work for X:, does it work for other drives that are
different than the one you are running the application server from?
(You might want to put there a directory that does not contain too
many files and directories, otherwise displaying the result will take
a long time.)

<p:config xmlns:p="http://www.orbeon.com/oxf/pipeline"
xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"
xmlns:oxf="http://www.orbeon.com/oxf/processors">

<p:param name="data" type="input"/>
<p:param name="data" type="output"/>

<p:processor name="oxf:directory-scanner">
<p:input name="config">
<config>
<base-directory>file://X:/</base-directory>
</config>
</p:input>
<p:output name="data" ref="data"/>
</p:processor>

</p:config>

Re: directory scanner and paths to shares

Alexander Žaťko
Alex,

Sorry to respond this late - I was away. I performed the test against
the yesterday nightly build and can confirm that local drives work, but
the mounted shares do not. Specifying "file://X:/Forms/" in the
base-directory element I get the "base directory element does not point
to an existing directory:" error.

I am attaching screenshot of the browser as well as the windows
explorer to show the directory structure.
