calc bug?

Richard Braman
Message
I have noticed what appears to be a calculation bug in OPS.

Steps to reproduce
Goto:

Notice on line 5 there are 2 checkbox to indicate whether taxpayer and spouse.
There is also a view button that links to to the worksheet where the calculation of line 5 takes place.

You will notice that I initialized the taxpayer as checked or = 'X'

If you check both of the boxes you will notice that the value doesn't chnage, even though it is bound to line F on the worksheet.  If you click" View" next to line 5 you will se that line F = 800, which is what line 5 should equal with both boxes checked.

Even if you dont click view, it is easy to see something is going wrong:
If you change line 2,  for instance to anything else, you will see line 5 goto 800.

What could be wrong?

Richard,

I am unable to access the URL you mention (server does not respond).
It would help us reproducing the issue if you can create a subset of
the form that we can run in the XForms sandbox.

Richard,

I am not sure to understand what the issue is. On box 5, you would
like the user to be able to select only one of checkboxes? That is:
none selected, you selected, or spouse selected, but not you and
spouse. Is that it? You have some <xforms:bind calculate="..."> to
prevent both checkboxes from being selected but that doesn't work as
you expect. Is that the issue?

RE: calc bug?

Richard Braman
Hi Alex.

No, I am thankfully passed the exclusive checkbox issue, but both boxes
on line 5 can be checked :) Let me try to re-explain.  Bascially when
you check one of the boxes on line 5, it changes the value of line 5 to
800, which is incorrect. Page 1 line 5 derives its value from Page 2,
line F see code below).  If you click "view" next to page 1 line 5, or
if you click page 2 at the bottom, you will notice line F is 4000, not
800.  Note: If you change the value of any other contol on the page, say
line 2, line 5 gets correctly updated to 4000.  Note: Line 5, Line F
would only be 800 if both boxes on line 5 are checked.  It appears that
the recalc is stopping for some reason.

In the code line 5 is bind id is f1-22 which looks like this:

<xforms:bind id="f1-22" nodeset="/form/f1040ez/SEQ0815" calculate="
                                if (instance('f1040ez')//f1040ez/SEQ0775
eq 'X' or instance('f1040ez')//f1040ez/SEQ0770 eq 'X') then

instance('standard-deduction-worksheet')//wksht/lineF
                                        else
                                        if
(instance('f1040ez')//f1040ez/SEQ0030 eq '') then
                                                8200
                                        else
                                                16400

                                "/>

So if either checkbox is checked it looks to lineF

lineF is
<xforms:bind id="f2-6"
nodeset="instance('standard-deduction-worksheet')//wksht/lineF"
calculate="

instance('standard-deduction-worksheet')//wksht/lineD +
instance('standard-deduction-worksheet')//wksht/lineE"/>

Richard,

I have a hard time figuring out what is going on in this case without
running your code locally. Maybe someone else in the list can figure
this out.
