Yes, I get this all the time because the xpath is a little different
within the inspector because of single node binding, the fact that
all XForms instances must have a single top node, and references
assume this, but the inspector doesn't.
(hopefully a correct explanation...)
In any case, try the easy stuff like / and /* and see what
you get, and I think you will find that you have to include
the top level node in the XPath.
