Visibility of controls

We have a form with a text (3 letters) at the top of the header (Control:
text output).
I would like to make some controls dependent on this text (show or hide).
Unfortunately my previous attempts did not work.
Is it also possible to make a checkbox listing visible or invisible
depending on the text above?

The visibility of each control can controlled via a relevant/visibility attribute.
