It's a good question, but the answer won't be simple ;-) A few ideas:

o Use an existing JavaScript component and loosely couple it with the
rest of the page through JavaScript.

o Use an existing JavaScript component but integrate it tightly with the
XForms engine (i.e. create new extension elements, etc.).

o Build the tree grid entirely with existing XForms constructs
(xforms:repeat). I am not sure how far we can go with this approach.
