Translating titles

Mike Ahlers
Hi,

I have a question of how to translate the title of a page. I find it strange that all other references are being translated, but the title is not. Is this some ordering problem?

Regards,
Mike

Mike,

As far as I'm aware it is not possible to change the title within Orbeon natively....One possible way is to have a hidden input bound to a node. This input would use Orbeon's javascript API to read the value on xforms-value-changed and set document.title

Thanks

Ryan

RE: Translating titles

Hi Ryan,

Thanks for the quick feedback. Hrm, not possible natively, thats a shame then. The work around sounds easy, but can you give me an example?

Thans in advance,
Mike

By "title" do you mean the content of the HTML <title> element?

Hi Ryan,

Thanks, your code works. I'll modify it later to read data from a resource bundle.

PS> Erik, yes, this is about the <title> tag. You have an alternative way of setting it?

At the moment, no. But it would be great to be able to write:

<xhtml:title><xforms:output .../></xhtml:title>

That does NOT work at the moment, but at some point we should
introduce this I think.

Re: RE: RE: Translating titles

Hi Erik,

The regular xforms:output should work for this, but as an alternative which may be easier is to write/support a 'xxforms:output' namespace which performs some post-processing at epilogue stage?

Just some ramblings,
Mike

You are right that you could build a component doing this, for example
with XSLT. You could even keep xforms:output for this, and post-
process it to hook-up some JavaScript.

We need something like this for Form Runner so maybe we will implement
that.
