Michael,
Your idea of using Firebug is what I would have advised to do so that
is a great start.
With the XForms Controls example, in the second tab which shows an
autocomplete, I do manage to open the dropdown and inspect its style
with Firebug, using cmd-shift-c ("Inspect Element"). This is with FF 3
on OS X.
(Note that we hope to migrate to the YUI autocomplete at some point.
This will have the benefit of better doc and easier maintenance.)
