Start, Shutdown and Restart from embedded eXist-DB?

Marcus-2
Hi,

ich have some problems with the embedded exist. Sometimes when an connect to it with the Java GUI and i change some terms, the db logs down and holds a lock-file which cannot be removed :-( Even restarting Tomcat does not work.
With an external exist sometime it helps to manually shutdown and restart the db without having to restart the whole tomcat!

How can i do this with the embedded exist? Are there some funktions to achiev that in OF?
Thanks, Marcus

You can't stop eXist independently of the web application when it runs
in embedded mode. When using eXist in embedded mode, you need to stop
Tomcat (or at least to undeploy the web application) to stop eXist. I
remember having problems with lock files, but it didn't happen since
we are using 1.1.1. Is this the version of eXist you are using in
embedded mode? If you are sure that no eXist is running (both in
embedded mode, and the eXist client), then you are safe removing the
lock file.
