Some clarifications about CVS tags

jontto
Hi,

http://cvs.forge.objectweb.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/ops/orbeon/

Could someone clarify the usage of different CVS tags a bit? There are dev, beta and beta+ tags, what are the differences?

If I'd like a relatively fresh version of the code which is so stable that it will run decently, what tag should I go for?

Is the SVN used or not and are there any tags there to be used?

Thanks for replies,
Jonas

We are using CVS, not SVN, for historical reasons. We would like to
switch to Git; our development environment progressively became
increasingly distributed, and Git would make our life easier. But that
will require a number of changes on our side, in particular to our
automated build system, which means that a switch to Git most likely
won't happen in the next few months.

As far as tags and branches are concerned, we right now just have one
"branch" (== trunk). So the names of the tags don't matter that much
as they are put in sequence. This will change soon though, as we are
planning to have distinct "stable" and "dev" branches.
