Hi,
some of you might remeber me. At least i'm still working at the university now and so i was asked to update my exams project to the new versions, because in hope of better performance issues. I have some problems when upgrading to the latest Version 3.6. I followed the instructions on the homepage, i copied the new orbeon_xxx.jar to the lib, deletet the old ones and cause i saw there was a new version of exist included, i updated that one too. But when i start my Tomcat it hangs up itself :-( From the catalina-log file i got those errors in the end: INFO: Deploying web application archive orbeon.war 16.01.2008 02:26:58 org.quartz.simpl.SimpleThreadPool initialize INFO: Job execution threads will use class loader of thread: Thread-1 16.01.2008 02:26:58 org.quartz.core.QuartzScheduler <init> INFO: Quartz Scheduler v.1.6.0 created. 16.01.2008 02:26:58 org.quartz.simpl.RAMJobStore initialize INFO: RAMJobStore initialized. 16.01.2008 02:26:58 org.quartz.impl.StdSchedulerFactory instantiate INFO: Quartz scheduler 'DefaultQuartzScheduler' initialized from an externally provided properties instance. 16.01.2008 02:26:58 org.quartz.impl.StdSchedulerFactory instantiate INFO: Quartz scheduler version: 1.6.0 16.01.2008 02:27:01 org.quartz.core.QuartzScheduler start INFO: Scheduler DefaultQuartzScheduler_$_NON_CLUSTERED started. 16.01.2008 02:27:19 org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader validateJarFile INFO: validateJarFile(C:\Program Files\Tomcat 5.5\webapps\kkbib\WEB-INF\lib\javax.servlet-1.4.jar) - jar not loaded. Did i missed something? Perhaps more information about the exact exist version would be helpful. And while i included the exist.jnlp web-client in the past, it would be great to get a full paket of that exist-version, so i can copy all additional files i need out of that. And just to mention it now - i'm sorry, but i tried to extract some subversions of exist in the past and that never worked for me :-(( So please, offer me another option that download any svn from the exist-project :-(( Thanxs in advance! Hope that someone has some great ideas to find an easy fix for my problems! Best regards, Marcus -- You receive this message as a subscriber of the [hidden email] mailing list. If you are upgrading from a previous version of Orbeon Forms, you will need to update all the jars, not just the orbeon*.jar. You might be OK just updating the orbeon*.jar if you are just getting a new nightly build, as it is less likely for the other jar files to have changed. I think this could just explain the problems you are having. But the point is, that the eXist-DB is causing and endless loop and hangs up my whole tomcat :-( Especially for my needs, that was the reason i need to get the included exist-version as a whole project to extract the needed files and to update those exist-file i added by myself to get the exist-web-client to work! I also have to sign those files, so that the applet will load over the browser from the net. So, on the one hand i urgent need the exist-files and i hope after thaqt, my problems are solved. Best regards, Marcus PS: Sorry, that i sent that request yesterday 2 times :-( You can ignore the other one. I just forgot to change to my registert email-adress. Hi,
sorry if i have to ask again, but can someone give me the latest included exist-version? Best would be, if i could download the whole project from somewhere!? Is that possible? I hope you guys can provide a download for your included exist-version - can't you? That would be great before the weekend. Just checking: you have this issue because you are trying to upgrade eXist yourself; is that right? We had to do a few changes to eXist for eXist to work out of the box with Orbeon Forms. The version we are using now in the nightly builds is a pre-1.2 version, which is very close to the 1.2 that was just released. That pre-1.2 version doesn't work for you? Or do you need to have your own eXist just because you need to sign some jars? Can't you sign those additional jars and keep the one we have in place? Hi Alex,
no, i didn't recieved your last answer :-( >Just checking: you have this issue because you are trying to upgrade >eXist yourself; is that right? No, i just updated the whole Orbeon 3.6 with your version of exist - but than i got those error messages and my tomcat hangs up in an endless loop :-( >We had to do a few changes to eXist for >eXist to work out of the box with Orbeon Forms. The version we are >using now in the nightly builds is a pre-1.2 version, which is very >close to the 1.2 that was just released. That pre-1.2 version doesn't >work for you? Actually i would include your version of exist, as it works with orbeon, but the problem is indeed, that i need additional jars from exist.war to get the exist-web-client working, and also that i works together with the security filter! To enable the web-client i need signed jars, so that someone could start it over the internet - otherwise you will get error messages, that you try to load unsave and unsigned jars :-( >Or do you need to have your own eXist just because you >need to sign some jars? Can't you sign those additional jars and keep >the one we have in place? Ok, to make it clear: Step 1: Update all orbeon files and check all other jars for newer versions Step 2: Update exist to the orboen inclueded one - so that the main application should work Step 3: Copy the needed additional jars from exist to my own libs, unsign the exist files inclueded with orboen and than sign all needed jars from exist again, cause they all need to have the same signing! 1: Actually my app works with all new orbeon files and i have better performance now. 2. When i update the exist files - my app crashes the whole tomcat :-( 3: ??? i couldn't test yet Hope that answers your questions :-) What changes did you have to made to get the newer version of exist work with orbeon? But for now why not deploy the eXist version you want in a separate web app? You could serve the signed client from that separate web app, and connect with that client to the eXist that comes with Orbeon Forms. Hi Alex,
don't know if missunderstood me, but Step3 is another Problem! First thing i have to solve is to get my webapp work again WITH the exist version that comes acutally included with Orbeon 3.6! That is the point where my app crashes tomcat with the never ending loop. I tried to make that clear!!! For Step 3 it would be nice to get your fully new configured and recompiled exist version - but at the moment we try to solve Step2 right? That is the point > where my app crashes tomcat with the never ending loop. I tried to make that > clear!!! OK, so let's focus on that issue. So we are in the case where you don't modify any of the jar that comes with Orbeon Forms. What do you mean by "crashing Tomcat"? Can you create a test case for this that runs in the sandbox? As you know, this is the best way to report a problem here so people can reproduce the issue you have as quickly as possible with a minimum number of changes needed to Orbeon Forms: http://www.orbeon.com/ops/doc/home-faq#reporting-issues Alex -- Orbeon Forms - Web 2.0 Forms, open-source, for the Enterprise http://www.orbeon.com/ -- You receive this message as a subscriber of the [hidden email] mailing list. Hi Alex,
ok, let me try it again :-) I can't give you an example that might work for the sandbox, because EXIST seems to be the problem here!!! For my application, as you might remember, i needed many additional jars - i updated the FCK and activated some additional features, i included the securityFilter and wrote an own realm to get it work together with exist and modified some simple standards from orbeon. This all should be NO problem at all. OK, back to my first mail in this thread - i have two scenarios: Case1: ------- I update all but exist jars to the latest version of yours! ALL BUT EXIST, ok? So, i get my application to work with your new orbeon together with all other features, AND my old own exist! No problems modify the theme-templates and css files and adding my own menu-template. Case2: ------- I update all jars, including YOUR exist in my app, when i start tomcat again, it hangs up and crashes, because my app leeds to a neverending loop, having probles with exist! And here it doesn't matter if i keep my old exist-datatbase-files or if i start with an empty exist-data folder. it is always the same issue: File lock last access timestamp: 16.01.2008 C:\Program Files\Tomcat 5.5\webapps\kkbib\WEB-INF\exist-data\dbx_dir.lck Found a stale lockfile. Trying to remove it: C:\Program Files\Tomcat 5.5\webapps\kkbib\WEB-INF\exist-data\dbx_dir.lck File lock last access timestamp: 16.01.2008 C:\Program Files\Tomcat 5.5\webapps\kkbib\WEB-INF\exist-data\dbx_dir.lck Found a stale lockfile. Trying to remove it: C:\Program Files\Tomcat 5.5\webapps\kkbib\WEB-INF\exist-data\dbx_dir.lck It tries to creat new database-files himself, creats a lock-file and than hanging up! ONLY WHEN WORKING WITH YOUR LATEST EXIST-Version! So, that is the only case i can discribe you. Other way would be to give you my whole application to test yourself if you want. But with all jars that would be around 70MB. After all i think, i could find a way if i would have the whole exist.war package that you created. So may i ask ones again, if you could give my a possibility to download it anywhere? Or should i try together with the latest realese of exist myself and keep you out of that? Because i think we are talking in circles since last week and there is no forthcoming at the moment, allthough you have much patients with me :-( So, on the one hand IT IS an exist-problem, there seems to be no other way, but on the other hand, it is your! version that you recoded, so you might know why!? Sorry that i can't tell you anything realy new and just keep repeating what i write since one week :-( Best regards, Marcus ----- Original Message ----- From: "Alessandro Vernet" <[hidden email]> To: <[hidden email]> Sent: Tuesday, January 22, 2008 8:54 PM Subject: Re: [ops-users] Problems Upgrading to 3.6 and the new included eXist-Version > Marcus, > >> don't know if missunderstood me, but Step3 is another Problem! > > Sorry, my little brain must have some trouble with dealing with 2 > problems in one single thread :). > >> First thing i have to solve is to get my webapp work again WITH the exist >> version that comes acutally included with Orbeon 3.6! Hi Alex,
i want to use case 2 instead of case 1, because we are handling about 20.000 very big datasets. that might not sound so much, but it is! the system runs slower while we were using about 500 and so we wanted to use the "new" exist also for better performance issues! Thats why i only can ask ones more: COULD YOU PROVIDE ME YOUR FULL EXIST COPY; THAT YOU HAD RECOMPILED????? You NEVER answered That Question in all my mails and i'M not asking this for the first time :-(( Sorry Thanks in advance, regards, MArcus ----- Original Message ----- From: "Alessandro Vernet" <[hidden email]> To: <[hidden email]> Sent: Thursday, January 24, 2008 2:26 AM Subject: Re: [ops-users] Problems Upgrading to 3.6 and the new included eXist-Version > Marcus, > > On Jan 22, 2008 2:33 PM, Marcus Ziegelmeier <[hidden email]> wrote: >> Case1: >> ------- >> I update all but exist jars to the latest version of yours! Hi Alex,
my PC Crashed for over one week, so i don't know if that was the latest response. I can try to fix exist myself, but at least i hoped to get just your full version of exist, so that i don't need to fix it myself. But ok, don't wanna waist your time with that problem. Sorry. Best regards and thanks for the script.
