Orbeon portlet - container roles required ("admin" & "orbeon")

Orbeon portlet - container roles required ("admin" & "orbeon")

Hi.

I've downloaded and deployed Orbeon 4.0.0 M6 PE to our Liferay 6.1 EE development server.
The integration with Liferay certainly works better than ever, good job! The only real issue I have come across is PDF generation with Form Runner portlet that comes out of the box. It works fine when using Orbeon as a standalone web application. Thought I'd mention that, but it's not really the real reason why I am writing to the mailing list.

After deploying Orbeon.war a lot of stack traces appear in the Liferay catalina.out log (it's deployed to Tomcat). These are exceptions are caused because Orbeon appears to be looking for two Liferay roles named "admin" and "orbeon". When I created these, the stacktraces stopped.

The names of these roles don't appear to be specified within the XForms mark-up of individual forms.

  • Are these roles global to the Orbeon Form Runner runtime?
  • Can the names be changed ("admin" is a generic name likely to conflict with another portlet app)?
  • Is there any documentation as to their purpose?

I think it would be good to have this information available in the wiki here http://wiki.orbeon.com/forms/doc/developer-guide/admin/deployment-portlet

-Stian

Stian,

Thanks for testing! We definitely appreciate.

This one is a known issue:

https://github.com/orbeon/orbeon-forms/issues/305

We hope to fix it soon.

Would love to hear about the PDF issue!

Thanks Eric. It's not a major issue, but good to know it is a known one.
Simply adding the roles to Liferay causes it not to throw exceptions
anymore so I'll do that in the interim.
