OFB: Change button

Don Smith-9
Kudos to the entire team for producing the Orbeon Form
Builder. Keep up the good work!

My immediate reaction to the "Change" button is that
the usability is not good. I'm guessing you all have
had discussions about this already, but for me, seeing
"Change" on a button when I need to click it to enter
my data is counter-intuitive. It makes me think I'm
going to do something *other* than enter my data. What
I expect to see is "Enter" on the button.

So here's one vote for changing the label of the
"Change" button to "Enter."

Thanks for a great start to a much-needed tool.

Don

Don,

Thanks a lot for the kind comments.

That sounds like a good suggestion. You can actually press the
return / enter key on the keyboard for the same effect, but I
understand that the label is maybe not the best. What about "Apply" or
"Set"? Or, "Enter/Change" depending on whether there is initial data
or not?

(Note that "Cancel" doesn't work yet there.)

Re: Re: OFB: Change button

Erik,

Yes, hmm, I see the dilemma now: if you're thinking of
the field containing initial data, then you are indeed
changing it.

"Enter/Change" is accurate, but too clunky. I'd vote
for sticking with "Enter" instead. I don't think
anyone would find it odd to see "Enter" when they want
to change existing data.

"Apply" might be the best option, though. The
semantics are already known by everyone and fit both
cases.

I like either of these two better than "Change"; I
probably prefer "Apply" slightly.

Don,

Great, for now we are changing to "Apply". It's not hard to change
this anyway.
