I have a test case form with 20 text fields and I have the autosave timeout
set to 5 seconds. If I enter text into a field and tab to the next and enter text and so on over a period of time much longer than 5 seconds no drafts get saved, I don't get a draft saved until I pause typing and tabbing between fields for longer than 5 seconds. Is the expected behaviour? In a customer's case where the autosave timeout is set to 60 seconds it is quite possible for someone to be entering data into a reasonably complex form for 10 minutes or more without any drafts being saved. This is not what the user would expect. They will lose all their entered data if the system goes down during that time. This might be something we have configured wrong but I can't see what. (I don't have incremental set on the form fields). thanks brian... -- Sent from: http://discuss.orbeon.com/ -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Orbeon Forms" group. Hi Alex or Eric,
I was wondering if you could comment on this and clarify when an autosave occurs. Our observed behaviour is problematic as it requires the user to be idle for a period of time before an autosave occurs. thanks, brian... -- Sent from: http://discuss.orbeon.com/ -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Orbeon Forms" group. Hi Brian,
You're right, and this indeed isn't what I would expect either. Luckily, it doesn't seem to be too hard to change this, however it needs to be done with some care! So, for now, I've created the issue below, and am hoping that we can fix this for 2019.1. And thank you for letting us know about this one! https://github.com/orbeon/orbeon-forms/issues/4205 ‑Alex ----- -- Follow Orbeon on Twitter: @orbeon Follow me on Twitter: @avernet -- Sent from: http://discuss.orbeon.com/ -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Orbeon Forms" group. Hi Alex,
We have been discussing this internally and the conclusion is that we really need to have this fixed as the current behaviour is a serious concern to our customer. Our only workaround is to set the auto save timeout to a quite low value (sub 10 seconds) and I have concerns about the impact this might have on performance. So, Is this likely to make it into the 2019.1 release and when are you expecting this release to come out? There are quite a few things in the upcoming release that we would like to use. thanks, brian... -- Sent from: http://discuss.orbeon.com/ -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Orbeon Forms" group. Hi Brian,
This is now fixed and will be in 2019.1. Would you be able to upgrade, or would you prefer to have this on a 2018.2.4? And of course, just let me know if you'd like a test build to check that this works as expected. ‑Alex ----- -- Follow Orbeon on Twitter: @orbeon Follow me on Twitter: @avernet -- Sent from: http://discuss.orbeon.com/ -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Orbeon Forms" group. Hi Alex, It would be great to have this fix in 2018.2.4 to simplify the process of upgrade. //Jarek czw., 10 paź 2019 o 01:05 Alessandro Vernet <[hidden email]> napisał(a): Hi Brian, You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Orbeon Forms" group. Hi Jarek,
Makes sense: we cherry-picked the fix on the `2018.2-pe` branch, so it will be included in the 2018.2.4 release. ‑Alex ----- -- Follow Orbeon on Twitter: @orbeon Follow me on Twitter: @avernet -- Sent from: http://discuss.orbeon.com/ -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Orbeon Forms" group.
