Hi all, I’m wondering if anyone has seen this before: , In
this table large table I’ve got a lot of input controls and each contains
a <xforms:hint>. When I quickly move my mouse over the table, many
of them appear and do not go away for at least a few seconds (I am not hovering
over them). I expected I would need to hold my mouse over the hint for a second
or two to see the hint popup but this is waaaay less than that. I see
this mostly after scrolling. I’ve included an image (I removed all
of the text) as an example. Is this a browser rendering issue? Or
is this due to something set in OPS? Thanks, -- You receive this message as a subscriber of the [hidden email] mailing list. Stephanie,
Is this happening with a recent nightly builds? I am asking because I remember recently fixing an issue causing a symptom which sounds like the one you have. If you are using a nightly build, are the hints disappearing after a short delay (i.e. does it just create a visual "trace", or do the hints stay there)? Hi Alessandro,
No, I am using the developer release that was released on 5/27/09. Are you saying this has been fixed in a nightly build? Stephanie,
No guarantee, but it might have been fixed. Do you have a way to give it a try and test this with the latest nightly build? Hi Alex,
Are the nightly builds generally safe to use? Or is there any info on how they are tested? Also are there any plans for another developer release since the last one was in May of last year? Stephanie,
In general they are quite safe to use. There can always be bugs or regressions creeping in, but we have more and more unit tests running alongside each build so the risk is reduced. Yes there is a plan to do a new release real soon. That was planned in December and has slipped a bit because there are a couple of remaining IE issues we wanted to see fixed. -Erik On Fri, Jan 22, 2010 at 6:44 AM, Stephanie Hall (TT) <[hidden email]> wrote: > Hi Alex, > > Are the nightly builds generally safe to use? So I've finally gotten a chance to test the nightly build again (from the night of 3/16), and this is still not fixed. I tested it in IE8, and many hints still popped up and stayed there.

Stephanie,
Thank you for trying again. Now, let's try to squash that bug! Could you put together an example that we can run here in the XForms sandbox and that would show this? Hi Alex,
Thanks for being aggressive on this issue. I've attached an example file that should run in the sandbox. What you need to do is open it in IE (I'm using IE8) and click the "+" button enough times to where the screen is full of these lines (you'll see). Once you scroll down and then run your cursor over some of the lines, a lot of them popup and don't go away. I typically have a large number of input boxes like this in my form and that is where my problem comes from. Let me know if you have problems running the example. The skeleton was taken from the intro bookcast app for simplicity and familiarity. Thanks, Stephanie -----Original Message----- From: Alessandro Vernet [mailto:[hidden email]] Sent: Wednesday, March 17, 2010 5:28 PM To: [hidden email] Subject: [ops-users] Re: RE: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: Multiple hints appearing at once Stephanie, Thank you for trying again. Hi Stephanie,
I tried this, but I don't seem to see the "trail" you were describing, or the many hints visible at once. Stephanie,
I should add that the video linked from my previous message is from IE7. I also tried with IE8 and I don't see the "trail" either. Should I do something else to reproduce this? Hi Alex,
You have to have probably double the number you have on the screen in the video. Once you add them, then drag your cursor quickly (it was pretty slow in the video) across them. I've attached an image showing the problem that I was able to make with this same example. The hints that came up disappeared after maybe 4-5 seconds. Thanks, Stephanie -----Original Message----- From: Alessandro Vernet [mailto:[hidden email]] Sent: Friday, March 19, 2010 1:43 PM To: [hidden email] Subject: [ops-users] Re: RE: Re: RE: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: Multiple hints appearing at once Hi Stephanie, I tried this, but I don't seem to see the "trail" you were describing, or the many hints visible at once. Hi Stephanie,
Yes, I see. I think I nailed this down, and pushed a fix which will be included in the next nightly build. You'll let me know if it works for you. Hi Alex,
From the preliminary tests I've run today, it seems like this issue is fixed (at least I haven't been able to reproduce it). I'm still evaluating the nightly WAR for our production use, so I'll let you know if it pops up again, but for now I think you can mark it closed :) Thanks a lot! I think I nailed this down, and pushed a fix which will be included in the next nightly build. You'll let me know if it works for you.
