Monitoring the progress of a long running sever job

m.jones
I have a requirement to monitor a long running server job (XQuery against
eXist) initiated from a Orbeon XForm.  Looking around the Orbeon Wiki I found
this http://wiki.orbeon.com/forms/projects/incremental-upload, & in particular
the section "Additional feature: progress monitoring". This seems exactly what
I'm looking for, so I wonder since this seems to be a plan for December 2010
what is the planned rollout?  Failing this as a strategy for moving forward has
anyone got an example of having a client monitor & long running server job, and
adjust a progress bar, with the option to cancel?

This is being implemented right now and should be done for the end of the year.

But it will work only for uploads, and I am not sure it's the same as
what you are looking for.

Thanks for the quick response Eric.  So the section in that document titled "Additional feature: progress monitoring" will not be implemented by the end of the year?  If not, is it scheduled to be done relatively soon?

Cheers,

Mark,

The "progress monitoring" feature is a progress bar for file uploads, just that.

So yes it's planned to be implemented soon, but it doesn't sound like
it's what you are looking for.
