I thought I would put this idea here in case someone was interested in
doing some fun hacking with the Facebook API ;).
Form Runner defines a persistence API, and provides implementation of
this API for eXist and Oracle (as well the file system, in read-only
mode). The API is a REST API, so you can implement it any language
you'd like (more on the wiki:
http://wiki.orbeon.com/forms/doc/contributor-guide/form-builder-integration-notes).
I was thinking that it would be fun to do an implementation of the API
that uses Facebook as a "data store". Instead of storing the data in
your local database, you would store in on Facebook using their Data
Store API (see:
http://wiki.developers.facebook.com/index.php/Data_Store_API_documentation).
This would get you very close to being able to deploy forms created
with Form Builder as Facebook application. User managements, and
persistence would be handled by Facebook, and you would only need to
deploy Orbeon Forms + your form on your server, but that server would
essentially be stateless.
Doable? Crazy?
