IDE for OPS

Guy Mauger
Hello,

Does anyone has an idea of what (if there is one) IDE or tool (Eclipe- or NetBean-like) to use when developping web application using the ops libraries?

I would like to develop web applications using the ops libraries, but without having to manually build the structure , the packaging and so on...

Thanx in advance.

The main tool available today to build applications with Orbeon Forms
is an XML editor of your choice. This allows you to write your XHTML
and XForms pages (and XML pipelines and XSLT files if you need those
too), and edit Orbeon Forms configuration files. You have a lot of
choice when it comes to XML editors. At Orbeon we have been using:

o The editor that comes with IntelliJ IDEA, because this way we can
keep a single environment for developing the Orbeon Forms platform
(which is written in Java) AND developing applications on top of
Orbeon Forms (which are written essentially using XML technologies).

o Our Orbeon Studio plugin for Eclipse, which includes a simple XML
editor, and adds a monitoring console.

If by IDE you mean a visual tool that guides you through all the steps
of building an Orbeon Forms application, then the answer, I fear, is
that there is no such thing at the moment.

We would like, in the future, to provide a web-based tool to help you
build applications, but this is not available yet.

I would like to correct you a little bit though: when building
applications with Orbeon Forms, you don't really use "libraries"
directly, and you don't have much packaging to do. If you haven't yet
done so, I suggest you follow the tutorial to get a better idea of how
you develop with Orbeon Forms:
