Hello,
I have created a form on my local computer at home using tomcat & orbeon. I want to move the new form I have created to my new server. Not sure where it is located or what it’s called. I have found a file located at: D:/program files/Apache Software Foundation/tomcat 5.5/webapps/orbeon.war Does this file contain the form I have created ? Do I move this file to my new server and overwrite the orbeon.war file that’s exists there now ? Thanks for your help, Wayne |

Hey Hank,
Can i not just take the orbeon.war file from my computer and upload it to the webapps dirrectory on my new server overwriting the existing orbeon.war file ? I have downloaded the program from http://exist-db.org/ But i'm not to sure how to use it. It's saying the application needs a JDK. A java runtime environment (JRE) will not be sufficient. Select JDK path. I don't have a clue on this. I'd rather just upload the orbeon.war file from my computer to the server if it will work ? Thanks again for your help, Wayne |

Hey Hank, Sorry I’m a little confused as all this is new to me. I created
the form by clicking on the Form Builder (Preview) link. After I click on the
link I go to the page where I can see my form in a list. See the attached screenshot.
When I click on the form in the list a new window opens up with my form in edit
mode. I just want to get this form transferred from my computer to the new
server. I have also clicked the publish button. It published the form but I’m
not sure where ? I thought that if I was to take the .war file from my computer
and upload it to the server that it would transfer the form also. I see that it
is probably stored within a database somewhere. I’m hoping that I do not have
to redo the form from scratch on the new server. I thought I could just
transfer it but it seems to be getting complicated and I’m not understanding
the procedure. Thank you for the help, Wayne From: Louis Ratzesberger

Hey Hank, After you publish the form where do those files get published to
? Shouldn’t I be able to find the published files and upload them to a
regular webserver ? At least that’s what I’ve always done in the
past with every form generating program I’ve ever used. You build the
form you generate the files, you upload them to the server and access the url
to the pagename.php or pagename.html. Isn’t that what’s supposed to
happen here. Where are the "collection"
of files located. ? What would be the path to the published files on my computer
? Thanks again for all the help,
Wayne From: Louis Ratzesberger

Hey Louis, Thanks for the info. I just recreated the form from scratch: http://180creditsolutions.ca/orbeon/fr/creditform/creditsolutions/new/
Now I need to try and find a way to make the form submit it’s
data to the site owners email address. Or email the .pdf. Also how do I access the data submitted by the form user ? So
far all it does is make a pdf for the user. Not sure what to do here ? Thanks again for all your help, Wayne From: Louis Ratzesberger

Wayne,
At this point, the forms you create with Form Builder capture the data and store it into eXist (or any database for which there is a persistence layer). It is then up to you to write code to do something with this data in eXist, e.g. through a batch process you run at a regular interval, or modifying the XForms created by Form Builder to also do something else in addition to storing it into eXist. Hello Alex,
Ok I did not know I'd have to write code. To be honest I don't have a clue how to write code for xforms. I have spent the last month just trying to get Orbeon up and running, It was no easy task ! I have completed my form and it is up and running: http://180creditsolutions.ca I just need a way for the site owner to receive the submitted data in the form of an email or send the pdf or some way. Is there any code that has already been written I could use ? Or is there someone that could help me with this ? I'm not sure what to do here ? I just need a simple way to receive the submitted data. Thank you for your help, Wayne -----Original Message----- From: Alessandro Vernet [mailto:[hidden email]] Sent: Thursday, March 25, 2010 11:37 AM To: [hidden email] Subject: [ops-users] Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: How do I move the form I have made on my computer to my new server server Wayne, At this point, the forms you create with Form Builder capture the data and store it into eXist (or any database for which there is a persistence layer). Hey Hank, Ok my form is up and running now: http://180creditsolutions.ca Now I have
another dilemma. I need to find a way to receive the submitted data from
the form. The site owner needs to receive the submitted form data in the
form of an email or the pdf emailed. Not sure how to do this ? I have no idea
how to write code for xforms but need a solution. Is there any code that has been
pre written I could use or some other way to receive the submitted data ? I’m
not sure why it’s has to be so complicated to receive data submitted by the form.
I can do this with a $20 program on my linux server in 2 minutes ! Not sure why
it’s so hard to do with orbeon. So much has gone into the development of
orbeon forms but I can’t believe there is not an easy way to just receive
the submitted data. Hope you can assist me, Wayne From: Louis Ratzesberger
