All,
XForms 1.1 is currently a W3C Candidate Recommendation. The next step required before it becomes a full Recommendation is a series of implementation reports. The conditions are: * Each mandatory feature of the spec must be implemented at least by two implementations. * However note that there is no need that a single implementation covers all all the mandatory features of the spec. XForms 1.1 has a test suite [1] which aims at covering the funtionality of the spec, and the implementation report is mainly based on whether those tests pass or not. Currently, two implementation reports have been submitted to the Working Group, including one for the Firefox extension [2]. It would be great if there was such an implementation report for Orbeon Forms, for two reasons: * The Forms Working Group needs more implementation reports, especially to cover those features of the spec which fail in the two reports submitted so far. [3] * It would be great for Orbeon to have a much clearer idea of what parts of XForms 1.1 are fully supported, and which need more work. Because we are quite busy at Orbeon, we need the community's help on this! The steps needed are: * Look at the test suite. * Run the tests and check which pass and which don't, and note the results. * For those tests that fail particaly, take note of that parts pass/ fail. * If possible, give an indication of how to get the test to pass. Some of those tests that fail may have easy fixes, some not. Gathering this information should be very valuable too :-) So please let us know if you have any interest working on this implementation report! -Erik [1] http://www.w3.org/MarkUp/Forms/Test/XForms1.1/Edition1/driverPages/html/index.html [2] http://www.w3.org/MarkUp/Forms/2008/XForms11ImplReports/FFplugins/ResultsTable.html [3] http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-forms/2009Jan/0012.html -- Orbeon Forms - Web Forms for the Enterprise Done the Right Way http://www.orbeon.com/ -- You receive this message as a subscriber of the [hidden email] mailing list.
