Form builder - changing field type: improvment

Hi,

just let assume form's author case:

1. create control type select1

2. change type to input type

now you have to delete control and add a new one.

It would be nice to have the possibility just to change type without adding again label, hint, validation and formulas.

The case is valid also for select and for conversion from input/output/textarea.

I suppose it will be nice to just to have option migrate control type 'on the fly'.

Hi Jarek,

We'd like to allow the control "type" to be changed between "related"
control types, say between a number field and a currency field. We do have a
request for enhancement for this (#2412 linked below). Would this work for
what you have in mind, or would you prefer something different?

not exactly. I would like to switch between not similar types like input and select.

Case:

1. The client wants to have input with label, hint etc.

2. the same client just changes the mind and want to have select with options

I need to delete old control and add new one with additional work.

In the code I just have to change xf:input to xf:select1 and add itemset. In the opposite direction it is even easier. Just change xf:select to xf:input and that's it. Ok. you can think about removing xf:itemset and dictionary but without it form still works.

You can consider some purge option e.g. when form is published all irrelevant elements are removed from source code?
