Form builder/Custom componenta

I am new to form builder. I am currently evaluating the form builder usability. One of the main functionality I am interested in is the "Custom Component". I am able to create different forms using the standard controls, save them, publish them and view forms data after saving. Every thing seems to be working ok. I ran into one issue with the "Custom Components". All the custom component controls that except data are not saving data provide by the end users. Do I need to do anything special to enable this feature?
