Export to Excel

I'm trying to export to excel by using the oxf:to-xls-converter. But I'm note to create the excel template. I tried with OpenOffice for windows, by saving it in the xls format. But I have got a java exception. I tried with Excel 2007 by saving in the format xls and the converter return an empty sheet. It removes the first sheet. Any idea on how create the xls template?

To be safe, I would always use Excel to generate the "template". I  
haven't used the Excel converter in a long time, but don't recall  
noticing the problem you are describing here (i.e. the first sheet  
being removed). Note that this code considered deprecated. If you can,  
you might want to generate CSV instead, which also opens fine in  
Excel. Also see this thread:
