To be safe, I would always use Excel to generate the "template". I
haven't used the Excel converter in a long time, but don't recall
noticing the problem you are describing here (i.e. the first sheet
being removed). Note that this code considered deprecated. If you can,
you might want to generate CSV instead, which also opens fine in
Excel. Also see this thread:
