Expertise Request - Orbeon

Blake, Jason

Good afternoon,

Pardon the interruption, but a large client of ours in the Chicago area has asked us to do some market research relative to the availability of technology professionals with experience or expertise working with Orbeon Forms.  We're not finding that a lot of people in general who are working with this tool, and I was wondering if you could shed some light based on your own experience as to whether this would normally be considered a peripheral skill, the types of environments currently deploying this technology, prevailing hourly rates for people that work in this area, or anything else that may help us better understand this sector of the labor market.

Thanks in advance for any assistance you are able to lend, and please let me know if there is any way I can be of service in the future.

Regards,

Jason Blake

Hi Jason,

Orbeon Forms is not a prevalent technology in the same way that PHP,
Java, Oracle… are. So you will find a few order of magnitude less
people who know about Orbeon Forms or even XForms than the
aforementioned technologies.

So I would recommend you look for people who know about XML, XPath,
and web technologies in general (HTML, CSS, HTTP). In our experience,
people comfortable in those 3 areas will be able to pick up Orbeon
Forms very quickly, especially when joining an existing group whose
members are already comfortable with Orbeon Forms.

I hope this helps,

Alex
