Hi all,
I am getting the follwowing error when I run tomcat. The database directory seems to be locked by another database instance. Found a valid lock file: C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 6.0\webapps\orbeon\WEB-INF\exist-data\dbx_dir.lck I have attached the complete log file. Please tell me what might be the problem. -- Regards Phani. S -- You receive this message as a subscriber of the [hidden email] mailing list. Hi Phani,
You can shut down the server, then delete .lck files in the WEB-INF/exist-data directory. It does mean that eXist did not shut down properly. Hi Hank,
I shutdown the server, then I deleted the dbx_dir.lck.lck file. When I start the server again, that file again appeared in that directory. Again I am getting the same error message.

Hi Phani,
Hmmm. It is a standard lockfile and is created when the server starts -- but usually deleted when the server exits/terminates. We may need to take this to the eXist mailing list. Is it possible that more than one instance of tomcat is starting? --Hank Quoting Phani Sajja <[hidden email]>: > Hi Hank, > I shutdown the server, then I deleted the *dbx_dir.lck.lck* file. > When I start the server again, that file again appeared in that directory. > Again I am getting the same error message. > > On Sat, Aug 14, 2010 at 2:56 AM, Hank Ratzesberger <[hidden email]>wrote: > >> Hi Phani, >> >> You can shut down the server, then delete .lck files in the >> WEB-INF/exist-data directory. >> >> It does mean that eXist did not shut down properly. >> >> Cheers, >> Hank >> >> On Aug 13, 2010, at 6:41 AM, Phani Sajja wrote: >> >> Hi all, >> I am getting the follwowing error when I run tomcat. >> * The database directory seems to be locked by another database >> instance.
