There was a question by Ripa last year about how to configure an external instance of exist db for Orbeon Form runner. Alex, you responded to that email but provided no information on how to do it. We are evaluating orbeon forms for our application under development and need to set this up not only for our production but also for our development environment as soon as possible. In orbeone documentation under "Configuring a Form Runner eXist database" topic 2 options are offered. The 2nd option is about this type of configuration but unfortunately it's not explained!
-- Would someone please provide a link, instructions or a document on how to do this? Any help/tips is much appreciated. Hi Smylie, Would the following doc help? (This looks complicated, but the most important part, from Orbeon Forms' perspective is the "Configuring Form Runner" section.) You'll let us know how it works out for you. Alex On Fri, Mar 6, 2015 at 8:04 AM Smylie <[hidden email]> wrote:

Thanks Alex. That's exactly what I am referring to. I already looked at that document. We are in need of an answer for option 2.
-- "2. or a completely separate eXist instance running in a separate container" If it's too technical or complex how else can we get support on above configuration option? Regards, Smylie On Friday, March 6, 2015 at 11:48:06 AM UTC-6, Alessandro Vernet wrote:

Sorry for message repeat. I sent it twice because I wasn't subscribed to the forum initially and thought that my message wasn't posted.
Anyway, Please let me know how we can get support on option 2 configuration of an external exist db instance. I am surprised there is no documentation on this option because it would naturally be in Orbeon's advantage to promote forms usage to a larger user base. We are very interested in using orbeon forms but need to evaluate the CE version first and then move on to PE version once we have increased our knowledge and capability. Thanks, Smylie |

Hi Smylie,
-- If you have specific questions, feel free to ask them here, and we'll do our best to help. Buit if you want more focused help (e.g. doing the setup over WebEx), if have a PE subscription, Orbeon can help you using the time for technical assistance included in the production subscriptions (http://www.orbeon.com/pricing), if you need more help, Orbeon has Dev Support (http://www.orbeon.com/services), and of finally, you can also get support from eXist Solutions (http://www.existsolutions.com/). Hi Smylie, What is the "option 2 configuration" you are referring to? Alex On Mon, Mar 9, 2015 at 10:29 AM smylie <[hidden email]> wrote: Sorry for message repeat. Alex - as I mentioned in a separate email we exchanged earlier I am referring to #2 option in the following section under the link that you provided.
http://wiki.orbeon.com/forms/doc/developer-guide/exist-configuration "Rationale By default, Orbeon Forms ships with an embedded eXist database. For production, this is not an ideal setup and it is better to have a separate eXist database, whether: 1. a separate WAR file running the same servlet container 2. or a completely separate eXist instance running in a separate container" Smylie |
