I'm having problems downloading ver 2.8 from object web:
http://forge.objectweb.org/project/download.php?group_id=168&file_id=3451 I'm using firefox and am not having any problems with other downloads. After the download dialog shows, it just sits there showing the message 'starting...'. I tried last nite at about 1:00am mountain time, and again today between 10am and 3pm. Is there another site from which I can download 2.8? Is there a problem with the object-web site. What problems could firefox be giving me ? Incidentally, I would prefer not to use a beta version for this project. Bill. -- You receive this message as a subscriber of the [hidden email] mailing list. It seems to download fine from here, and I am using Firefox as well. > Is there another site from which I can download 2.8? Did you try different download sites from the list? Can you try with a tool like wget and see what happens, something like: wget http://download.fr2.forge.objectweb.org/ops/orbeon-presentation-server-2.8.0.zip > Incidentally, I would prefer not to use a beta version for this > project. Orbeon PresentationServer 2.8 has shown that it is quite stable, of course. Now it all depends what you want to do: if you plan to use XForms extensively, then you will miss a lot if you use 2.8. Otherwise, you will miss a number of improvements done in 3.0 as well, but the difference may not be as drastic. Check out the current list of changes to get a better idea: http://www.orbeon.com/ops/doc/home-changes-30 On the other hand, it also depends a lot on when you plan to deploy. If it's in two weeks, 3.0 beta is probably not a good idea. If it's 3 months, then it is probably reasonable to start working with 3.0 beta. -Erik -- You receive this message as a subscriber of the [hidden email] mailing list. Thanks. FWIW, After the download, I retried download using firefox. I noticed that the french site is now showing as visited (not surprising given the above URL). Again, in firefox, the US site hung up, but the french one was OK. From my chair it looks like a US site problem. Thanks again. > > > Incidentally, I would prefer not to use a beta version for this > > project. > > Orbeon PresentationServer 2.8 has shown that it is quite stable, of > course. I've been getting by on 2.4 for quite a while, and am moving to 2.8 just to get the bug-fixes, whatever they are, that have come between then and now. > >------------------------------------------------------------------------ > > >-- >You receive this message as a subscriber of the [hidden email] mailing list. >To unsubscribe: mailto:[hidden email] >For general help: mailto:[hidden email]?subject=help >ObjectWeb mailing lists service home page: http://www.objectweb.org/wws > > -- You receive this message as a subscriber of the [hidden email] mailing list. In that case, you will also be able to move to 3.0 (if you wish to do that) in the future without significant problem. -Erik -- You receive this message as a subscriber of the [hidden email] mailing list.
