ops-users:
I'm wondering if anyone on the list has any experience with (and advice for) using Orbeon with XForms generated IBM's Forms Designer. I'm working on a project where we would like to use the Orbeon Forms server. However, for creating forms, the team would like a product with a little more polish than Orbeon Form Builder has at this time (though we would like to keep our options open for using it in the future). IBM's Forms Designer gives us an XFDL document (I'm a little unclear on whether the document follows published standards) contain our original schema as the xforms model and then all of the layout info for the form. Does anyone have a sense for what would be involved in translating the resulting XFDL document into something that would be usable with Orbeon? Any help or advice would be appreciated. ~JMH -- begin:vcard version:2.1 fn:James Hiebert n:Hiebert;James;;; email;internet:[hidden email] title:Physical Scientist org:NOAA;Office of Coast Survey;Hydrographic Systems and Technology Program uid:0f82097548c0322f513784d47228638b rev:2008-10-28T15\:40\:55Z end:vcard -- You receive this message as a subscriber of the [hidden email] mailing list. James,
Some work has been done to write XSLT that transforms XFDL into XHTML +XForms, which you can run inside Orbeon Forms. If you do a search on this list archive, you will find messages on the subject with XSLT attached. I think the approach is realistic, even if, most likely, it will require you to do some more work to adapt and improve the existing stylesheet.
