Accessing Server by IP

Chaum, Erik CIV NUWC NWPT
Assistance / experience / guidance appreciated.

We have had an Orbeon Server operating for some time. We have been able to
access it from the local host and by IP from remote systems until recently -
when it stopped answering remote clients, but continues to respond to local
users. We have redeployed with no improvement. The server is behind a firewall
and to the best of our knowledge there have been no network changes (although
we do not have control or perfect knowledge as to the network state). No
modifications to the base configuration files.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Erik Chaum

One case we've been hitting a few times is one where the server tries
to do a reverse lookup, for the sake of having a nice host name in the
logs. When this happens, requests from the "outside world" can be very
slow, and to make this even more tricky it can only hit specific
ranges of IP addresses. More on this at:

http://wiki.orbeon.com/forms/doc/developer-guide/performance-tuning#TOC-Disable-DNS-lookup

If this isn't the issue, you'll need to debug this "the old way" (i.e.
does the request hit your firewall? does it hit your web server if you
have one in front of your application server? ...)
