A few questions while trying out Orbeon Forms

Gupte, Prajakta

Hello,

I am new to Orbeon and had the following questions while trying out the Community Edition:-

1.       I have a scenario where we populate data dropdowns on the form using external data services. Is this functionality available in CE? I was able to create a control on the form using form builder and set it up to hit a RESTful service. While running the form in “test” mode, the service returns data, but the drop down is not populated. Is there any documentation related to resolving this?

2.       Does the CE allow a form to post data to a RESTful service?

3.       Can you add new buttons to the form and get them to perform custom actions using CE?

4.       Is there any documentation related to development using the community edition, such as API documentation, javadocs etc?

Any pointers will be useful.

Thanks, Prajakta.

Hi Prajakta,

Did you get a chance to see the demos:

http://orbeon.com/forms/demos

And all the documentation is in the wiki:

http://wiki.orbeon.com/forms/

Yes, GET, POST, PUT are all supported in the XForms submission.

So, there is the XForms engine and the Form Builder / Runner and in the engine, you have
all the capabilities of XForms.  Did you get a chance to see the controls example?

A lot in the wiki.

Best,
Hank
