Unexpected response received from server

Could some one please explain the reason for getting the message "Unexpected response received from server" when I run my OPS application in the web browser? Once I get that message, I cannot even refresh and continue entering data in my form. The same message reappears. Is there any work around for this?

This particular message usually happens when the server responds with
garbage (incorrect XML), or when the Ajax connection otherwise breaks.
