Orbeon form license related queries

Sachin B
This post was updated on .
Hi Alex,

As We are using community edition of orbeon.
I want to use some functionality like action services(HTTP,Database,Actions)
which is not enabled in community edition.I have gone through code and with
some tweaking I have made that functionality enabled.
So if I am doing such tweaking to enable some functionality inside community edition source code
then am I violating any licensing terms?. Please let me know so that I can continue with this?

For example,
For enabling action services functionality, I have removed $is-pe condition of below source code.

<xxf:show ev:event="DOMActivate" if="$is-pe" dialog="fb-action-dialog"/>

Thanks

Sachin B

Hi Sachin,

You can, and you're not violating any license doing so. However, keep in mind that those features might be removed from the CE codebase in the future, as they were clearly documented as PE features. This will, if you use those features in the CE, make upgrading significantly harder.

So, if you're planning to use Orbeon Forms long term, and you need those features, I'd encourage you to use the PE, as it will make upgrading easier, and doing so you're supporting the development of Orbeon Forms ;).
