Later and commercial version of TinyMCE

bwallis42
Hi, I'm investigating the possibility of using the commercial version of TinyMCE with Orbeon, version 4.5.2, so that I can get access to some of their plugins (spell checker pro and power paste in particular).

Is this something that is likely to be difficult to do? The current version in Orbeon is 3.5.8.

It would be nice to be able to just drop in the commercial version but I suspect that isn't going to work if orbeon is currently only supporting the older version. Have you ever tried this or tried a later version of TinyMCE?

thanks

Hi Brian,

I don't expect it be *really* difficult, but it will certainly require a little bit of work, including a few things someone who hasn't worked with XBL before might find tricky. Do you think that it would make sense for you or someone in your team to work on this?

Also, this the relevant issue:

Thanks for that. We are still looking at if it makes sense for us and that depends on the costs involved in using the commercial version of TinyMCE which I don't know as yet. Will let you know what happens.

thanks

Got it Brian, thanks for the update, and you'll let us know if we need to do something for the TinyMCE upgrade, or if we can help in any way with that process.

Hi Alex,
So, looks like you just committed an updated to TinyMCE version 4.7.6!

That is great to see. I am keen to try this out with the commercial
copy/paste plugin from Moxiecode ASAP.

It is something I would like to demonstrate to our customers. We have
tickets about copy/paste issues into forms going back to something like
2006.

Would it be easy for me to build a CE version with this update in it? I can
see the changes on master in the repository.

I haven't built orbeon for quite some time, do you have instructions on
requirements and how to somewhere?

thanks
brian...

Hi Brian,

Certainly, you can build the CE yourself – see the page below for some
"hints" on how to do this. And I can also send you a nightly of the PE on
your Basecamp if it helps. You'll let me know what works the best for you.
And note that this is a first push; we'll most likely have bugs to fix (so
when you get a chance to try it, just let us know if you something wrong).
