Is there a roadmap for OPS 3.0

Is there a roadmap for OPS 3.0

Hi,

Just wondering if there is a roadmap for when the final version of OPS 3.0 is going to come out.

The reason I ask is we are currently evaluating upgrading from version 2.8 to version 3.0, but we need to support Safari and the OPS website says that Safari support is planned for the final version but is not currenly in place, we also need to be able to run our OPS app on Websphere, which we currenltly do using version 2.8. Other than this OPS 3.0 looks extremely promising.

So, could you please let me know how far OPS is from final release?

Thanks,

Alan

Hi Alan,

We can't promise that we will support Safari in the first release of
PresentationServer 3.0. It is definitely on our list, and is the next
browser in line to be supported, but that might come in a subsequent
release (3.x), unless we get someone to sponsor that feature.

Thank you for the positive comments.

Alan,

It looks like we always have "a few weeks" of work left, which includes
fixing important bugs, addressing the initialization performance issue,
and writing documentation, all things that we don't think 3.0 can ship
without. Because we are often pulled left and right out of the actual
development, we cannot commit to a date.

As Alex said, our current plan will probably defer Safari support from
3.0 to 3.x (we do not say anywhere, I think, that 3.0 will have Safari
support). However, this could be a good candidate for sponsoring.

I forgot to say that while we haven't done testing of 3.0 on Websphere
yet, it doesn't mean that it doesn't work. Historically, app servers
have been fairly consistent between each other, with the exception of
library "pollution" which differs from app server to ap server.

Re: Is there a roadmap for OPS 3.0

I've successfully implemented OPS 3.0B3 on a WebSphere 6.01 when J2EE security is switched off.
Currently we work on figuring out the was.policy file that needs to be included to work with J2EE security switched on.
Once that is stable we contribute that back to OPS

:-) stw
