Damien,
The upload control right now only works with replace="all", in other
words the web browser has to submit the underlying HTML form before the
server can see the content of the uploaded file. This means that
currently the XForms engine cannot check the contents as it can for
other controls. Note that we hope to fix this in the future:

and check the content on the receiving end of the submission. Then, if
the uploaded file is not valid, display a page telling the user so.
